Miami Beach – Florida, U.S.A.  Emerging in 1920s France, Arts Décoratifs et Industriel Modernes, or Art Deco, celebrates the luxury, glamour, and mobility brought by the technological advancements of the interwar period. Through symmetry, industrial motifs, bold colors, and geometric shapes, Art Deco conveys movement, progress, and style.

In the US, Miami Beach has the largest concentration of Art Deco buildings, built primarily during the Streamline Moderne phase of the Art Deco movement. Here, the buildings incorporate racing curves and local imagery like ship portholes and pastel colors. Together, the buildings are referred to as Tropical Deco.

We explored Miami Beach’s Deco landmarks over the winter holidays with Christine & Company, @ArtDecoTours.
